So there’s no new iPhone for almost 18 months and then Apple publishes the iPhone 4S on October 4th 2011 – and iPhone sales go up?

Thank you Captain Obvious.

What I would’ve wanted to know is how those numbers changed during the WHOLE period between the market debut of the iPhone 4 and the 4S. With just this short a timeframe one can’t really deduct anything.

Seriously though, although this is confirming what anyone with half a brain cell and a family who gave each other gifts on Christmas suspected it’s interesting to see that the 3.7 million  Android activations Google published after the holidays most likely wasn’t bested by Apple. It was close but Android kept the lead.

Still – Apple sells only three models, the 3GS, the 4 and the 4S (in two colors and up to three internal memory variants) and with this lineup they manage to halve the market for the most important sales quarter of the year. I’d chalk that one up under the „impressive“ category.
